Peter Ruttgaizer
Altitude Television Host and Reporter
Peter Ruttgaizer joined Altitude Sports & Entertainment in 2007 and can be seen on the Colorado Avalanche broadcasts as well as on High School Football telecasts and other Altitude programs.
Peter was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He has lived in a number of different places in Canada, including: Toronto, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Bishop's Falls, Newfoundland, and Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He attended Seneca College in Toronto where he took Journalism.
After graduating from Seneca College, Peter's work took him all over Canada. He worked for CTV in Halifax and Toronto, The Sports Network in Winnipeg, and for CBC both regionally in Charlottetown and nationally at CBC Sports in Toronto. He also had the opportunity to work alongside play-by-play great Ted Robinson at a World Cup Ski Jump event in Park City, Utah for NBC Sports.
For the last three years, Peter filled the role of play-by-play and host for a small regional network in Atlantic, Canada called EastLink TV.
Favorite sports movie: The Natural with Robert Redford.
Favorite sports moment: My dad and I bought tickets from a scalper in Toronto in the mid 70's to see Pele and the New York Cosmos take on Toronto in the NASL game at Varsity Stadium. Pele didn't score but you could see why he was one of the great Footballers of all-time.
Favorite band: I can't pick one...Rush (they're from Canada, eh!), Mark Knopfler and Buddy Guy are some favorites, though.
The best thing about working at Altitude: I am glad to be in Denver and to be a part of the Altitude team!
Favorite Food: Nothing beats Atlantic Salmon baked in the oven.
If you could meet one person living or dead, who would it be? I would love to chat with John Saunders of ESPN. I used to watch John when he used to work in Toronto. He's a big reason why I decided to get into this business. Thanks for the inspiration, John.
