Maya Starks

 

Maya Starks
Altitude Television Reporter and Host

Maya Starks is entering her second season with Altitude. She can be seen on Nuggets broadcasts, Nuggets Courtside, the George Karl Show, and various Altitude Sports Summit shows this winter.

Maya spent two years as a sports photographer in Washington DC before joining the NBC affiliate in Tupelo, MS as a weekend sports anchor for two years. Ms. Starks then moved on to Raleigh, NC, where she spent the last 5 1/2 years as the weekend sports anchor at the NBC affiliate there.

Ms. Starks graduated from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1999 with a degree in Communication Studies. During her tenure at UNC, she was a four-year starter on the Tar Heel volleyball team. Maya is a Colorado native who graduated from Pomona H.S. before moving on to college at UNC Chapel Hill.

Her hobbies include reading, working out and watching cartoons. Her parents live in Arvada and she has two older brothers. Maya's husband, Rufus Brown, is also a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and works for the Boy Scouts of America.
