Colorado's First Responders Episode 4
Premiered November 10, 2015
We have three remarkable stories in this month’s Colorado’s First Responders.
Above: Interview with firefighter John Stevens about the Ride to Remember.
▶ To begin, we hear from the Denver Health Paramedic Wildland Team on being deployed to wildfires in Washington and Alaska.
They tell us about their training and their experiences being close to those massive wildfires.
▶ Our next story is about the First Responders that no one really thinks of...Bloodhounds! We met up with the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office and their use of Bloodhounds to find evidence, missing people and drugs.
We even put the Bloodhounds to the test to see them in action.
▶ Our final story is an emotional one. Every year, hundreds of firefighters on motorcycles ride down to Colorado Springs to honor the men and women that have fallen in the line of duty. This past September was a very emotional ride, not only because of the rededication of the International Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Colorado Springs, but also because of the hundreds of names being added to the wall this year.
Local firefighter Eric Sondeen passed away from cancer earlier this year. We spoke with friends and family who were riding down to the memorial to honor him.
